Our Studio
Perched Architecture is a Charleston-based architecture and interior design studio. We work on custom homes, large-scale renovations, and select commercial projects throughout Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Sullivan’s Island, Kiawah, and the greater Lowcountry. Our studio combines architecture and interiors in one process, giving clients cohesive design and precise documentation from concept through construction.

Spencer Hough works on custom homes, major renovations, historic restorations, and adaptive reuse. His projects range from waterfront residences along the South Carolina coast to historic downtown properties and select commissions beyond the region. His focus is on creating architecture that feels balanced, livable, and lasting.
Known for builder-friendly drawings and strong construction knowledge, Spencer works closely with contractors to carry design intent through to the finished building. He believes that clarity, proportion, and detail are what make spaces effortless to live in and timeless in character.
Outside of practice, he draws inspiration from travel, writing, hands-on building, and time on the coast. These pursuits reflect a commitment to design that connects people, place, and purpose.

Lead Interior Designer
Jamie Hough leads the interior design work at Perched, shaping spaces that are both timeless and personal. She partners closely with clients to create interiors that balance elegance with practicality, ensuring each project feels curated, livable, and aligned with the architectural vision.
She specializes in high-end kitchen and bathroom renovations, where functionality and beauty come together seamlessly. From layout and flow to fixtures and finishes, Jamie’s designs transform these essential rooms into focal points of the home that are refined, enduring, and tailored to each client.
Her expertise also includes material selection, space planning, and project coordination, guided by the belief that interiors should feel natural and welcoming. Drawing inspiration from Charleston’s historic architecture and coastal landscapes, she blends local character with classic design principles.
